Prada Talisman Necklaces

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

Prada literally took charms to a whole new level with Talismans – the Italian label’s very first jewellery collection comprising silver and semi-precious stones (along with wood and seashells) that have been translated into large pendants that if you’re a believer, all have magical energy contained within.

First up, we have the pieces that come on wooden twigs decorated with beautifully carved animals known as the Talisman Animalier collection. With each animal representing a different meaning, the Monkey, for example, represents an agile mind, one that’s adaptable yet playful. Attached onto their own wooden twig with some having semi-precious stones for eyes, other animals include the elephant, a fish, a koala bear, even a parrot.

Then there are the crystal pieces, featuring large pieces of stones from the amethyst to the citrine, along with labradorite and rock crystals, with each possessing different attributes, from amethyst’s ability to reawaken one’s inner spiritual awareness to citrine’s self-healing properties, especially good when worn close to the body.

Available for both men and women, the necklaces that come with semi-precious stones will start from SGD1750, while those featuring seashells start from SGD1370. The larger pieces, featuring carved animals on wooden twigs, will retail from SGD2080. And beyond their natural, magical properties, these talisman necklaces are in my opinion truly gorgeous statement pieces that you can wear over most any outfit on any given day.

Balenciaga Blanket Bracelet

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

Seen the blanket bags? Take a look at them again, but focus on the top right corner this time around and you’d notice that all items from the Blanket series come with that lambskin band which bears the embossed Balenciaga logo. Now imagine them as bracelets and you’ve pretty much got the Blanket Bracelet.

The perfect addition to the Blanket series, they are longer, thicker and wider, which makes for a pretty solid wrist accessory. The ends of the bracelet are finished in gold metallic hardware that ‘snap’ together, all due to the wonders of the magnetic clasp that keeps it secure when you need it.

Available in a variety colours, they come in 2 sizes, Small and Medium. In Singapore, 3 colours (Black, Olive and Orange) are currently retailing at their Paragon boutique for SGD420 a pop. Online, you’ll find the bracelet over on Balenciaga for USD310 and at NET-A-PORTER for USD285, but if you were to factor in shipping and taxes, you’ll probably find that getting this locally would be the best option.

Hublot celebrates Ferrari’s 70th anniversary with a special tourbillon chronograph

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

Ferrari has had a solid relationship with Hublot for the last five years and the Italian carmaker decided to celebrate its 70th anniversary by collaborating together on another special edition timepiece. Welcome the Techframe Ferrari 70 Years Tourbillon Chronograph – a watch introduced at the Baselworld 2017 that has been designed by Ferrari and crafted by Hublot with a brand new movement. The timepiece started out in Maranello, Italy, where Ferrari’s Head of Design Flavio Manzoni built a sound and agile “chassis” around Hublot’s “engine,” the watch’s HUB6311 movement.

The Techframe Ferrari 70 years Tourbillon Chronograph exhibits the design DNA of the iconic carmaker. Like that of a Ferrari, its lattice structure—that is unique in the world of watchmaking—offers maximum strength for minimal weight. “The styling of the Techframe Ferrari 70 Years Tourbillon Chronograph underlines the performances of the watch and no component is there by chance”, explains Flavio Manzoni.

The piece features a sapphire dial with the Ferrari logo at 9 o’clock and the Hublot’s monogram at 5 o’clock. On top of it is a matte black block that holds a race-inspired twin half-second counter at 3 o’clock, the minutes counter opposite it and the column wheel at 1 o’clock. The crown at 4 o’clock reduces the size of the watch to the greatest possible extent, and increases its aerodynamic look. The new HUB6311 manual-wind movement is made of 253 components and has a 5-day power reserve. The chronograph is a single pusher function for starting, stopping, and resetting the timer. The back cover of the case is engraved in black with “Limited Edition, No. XX/70”, and the sapphire back is adorned with “Ferrari 70 Years”. The Techframe Ferrari 70 Years is available in three versions — King Gold, PEEK Carbon, and Titanium. And watch will see a limited run of only 70 piece.

Baselworld 2017: Rolex reveals its popular Cosmograph Daytona watches in gold

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

At the ongoing Baselworld 2017, Rolex has introduced three new versions of its Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona line. It was just last year that the watchmaker refreshed their popular Cosmograph Daytona line of watches by launching the ceramic bezel design. And now Rolex has released the Cosmograph Daytona with ceramic bezel in 18-carat yellow, white and Everose gold. Joining the ranks of the Yacht-Master, the new models are fitted with the innovative Oysterflex bracelet in elastomer reinforced with a metal blade, and are equipped with a monobloc Cerachrom bezel, patented by Rolex, in black ceramic.

On the inside, the watch remains the same and is equipped with calibre 4130, a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement. The movement is accurate to +2/-2 seconds per day and has a 72-hour power reserve. The crystal face of the timepiece is virtually scratchproof sapphire and the 40mm-wide oyster case which is crafted from a solid block of 18-ct gold is waterproof to a depth of 100 meters (330 feet). The pricing has not been announced by Rolex as of yet.

Hublot unveils its most complicated and interesting watch yet

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

At Baselworld 2017, Hublot has introduced the new MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis, the watchmaker’s first multi-axis tourbillon. The new in-house design is Hublot’s latest chapter in their collection of Manufacture Piece (MP) watches. We know that the Swiss luxury watchmaker is no stranger to crafting compelling timepieces that are not traditional, but Hublot has outdone itself with the new MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis. The watch has 3-sided sapphire crystal case that tapers at 6 o’clock specifically to display the double rotation of the bi-axial tourbillon. In addition to the special design of the case, the new movement was created with maximum visibility of this mechanism in mind.

The engine for this timepiece is the 43-jewel HUB9009.H1.RA caliber and it is an automatic movement that operates at 3Hz and has a five-day power reserve. At the heart of this movement is the bi-axial tourbillon, which makes a full rotation on one axis in one minute and a full rotation on a second axis every 30 seconds. The case measures 49mm in diameter and 17.95mm thick. There are three version of this watch, all limited editions. Limited to 50 pieces in titanium and 20 pieces in King Gold, the watch is priced at $169,000 in titanium, $211,000 in King Gold, and $190,000 for the titanium pavé version.
